Mila Morton
Growing up on the edge of the Eurasian steppe, the artist’s early engagement with the nature directed her art studies first in Moscow and then in Hong Kong. Exploring the Asian landscape tradition, Morton began working on Xuan paper, a delicate rice paper originating from Tang dynasty China. In her compositions Morton skilfully balances dynamic and tranquil elements. Her Reeds series has a special calligraphic quality, as if thin reeds are rippling on the surface of the water, a distorted ancient language.
